The Story Behind

  • Sculpted, Not Cast.

    Most metal bags are cast in a mold. The Botanist is sculpted.

    This bag utilizes the demanding technique of Repoussé (French for "pushed back"). Master Artisan Vereen works on the reverse side of the brass sheet, hammering blindly to push the metal outward. He has to visualize the floral pattern in reverse, judging the depth of the relief by feel alone.

    It creates a "hollow 3D" effect giving the bag incredible visual volume while keeping it surprisingly light to carry.

    The floral motifs are inspired by the royal gardens of Rajasthan, but the silhouette is purely architectural. It is a collision of organic beauty and rigid structure.
