The Story Behind

  • Painting with Stone.

    Most jewelers work with one color at a time. Master Jeweler Ratan works with a palette.

    This piece is a feat of "Micro-Mosaic" art. The challenge here is the material. Working with Silver requires a lighter touch than brass. Ratan must hand-select tiny, geometric cuts of glass in contrasting colors Ruby next to Sapphire, Emerald next to Topaz and embed them into the soft silver frame.

    The stones must sit perfectly flush. If one stone is tilted, the light won't dance across the "scales" correctly.

    It takes a steady hand to create this level of detail on an object the size of a fingertip. It is a small reminder to let life add a little color to your day.
