The story

The Mark of the Hand.

A machine likes smooth surfaces. An artisan likes texture.

Master Artisan Ratan finishes this piece using a technique called Chita (stippling). After casting the camel shape in brass, he uses a fine-point chisel and a small hammer to manually indent the surface thousands of times.

This creates a "fur-like" texture that diffuses light, giving the gold a soft, matte glow rather than a cheap, high-shine reflection. It is a labor-intensive process that ensures no two camels are exactly alike.
